Micro bonds or micro rings, what’s the difference?
Micro bonds or micro rings? It’s the age-old question, at least it is in the hair extensions world. Well, they’re both single strand hair extensions, so they’re more versatile than other hair extension types because they move and grow freely. This means they feel and look more like natural hair too. Because their attachments are tiny, they’re super discreet and can be added to area’s that would be too risky for the likes of weaves and tapes – near the hairline, the crown and parting. These tiny, little marvels have far more in common than divides them. So how do you choose which would suit you best?
Micro Bonds
We exclusively use Italian keratin for our micro bond hair extensions. Unlike traditional hair extension glues, this keratin ensures a gentle application process and easy removal when needed. We create tiny, hand-made bonds, each no larger than a grain of rice, guaranteeing a secure and discreet attachment. Ideal for those with finer hair, micro bonds effortlessly blend into more prominent areas like the crown and parting. This method won’t compromise the health of your natural hair, allowing it to grow freely. A versatile and adaptable method, micro bonds typically last between 12 to 16 weeks, depending on your hair type.
Micro bonds are a good choice those with thin/fine hair, super light blondes, and anyone who can’t live without wearing their hair tied high. If you have very oily hair, micro bonds can be hard work. Oil breaks the keratin down, and the hair from the hair extension can shed. If you’ve got oily hair, only choose micro bonds if you’ve got the time to care for them.
Micro Rings
NuTress clients know about our obsessive attention to detail, and our micro rings are no exception! That’s why we only use the highest quality, tiny copper tubes – they’re half the size of standard micro rings. This makes our non-shedding and durable micro rings super discreet. What’s more, as 100% of the hair is reusable, reapplications are more cost-effective. For those who prefer not to have bonded hair extensions, micro rings offer a seamless alternative. Micro bonds or micro rings, the maintenance is the same, usually every 12 to 16 weeks but your extensionist will
If you have an abundance of hair, or you’re brunette, micro rings are a great choice. They’re easier to care for if you have oily hair and are usually quicker to maintain, so cost effective too. The main downside is that micro rings can’t be worn high, so no high ponytails! And finally, micro rings aren’t as discreet as micro bonds in very light blonde hair, especially around the parting and crown.
Or Both?
If you’ve got fine, light blonde oily hair, you’re probably thinking neither micro bonds or micro rings are right for you. But fear not! At NuTress, we appreciate your individual needs, and offer a blend of micro bonds and micro rings. Our bespoke applications can combine both methods, giving you all the advantages that each type offers. If you have fine, oily hair, this customised approach offers a perfect solution, giving you the best of both worlds.
